KISMET LYLES

…is an unyielding force of melody. Her music is a harmonious blend of R&B sharpened with a rock edge and layered on a jazz foundation. She was invited to perform at the 30th Anniversary of the Polish Solidarity Movement in August of 2010. She had an amazing experience performing a solo and singing with Macy Gray, Angelique Kidjo, Rufus Wainwright and Marianne Faithful. Kismet has been a featured lead for five European tours of the Robert Wilson/Dr. Bernice Johnson Reagon production of "The Temptation of St. Anthony"; including a history-making performance series at the Opera Garnier in Paris in 2005.  She marks her start in the New York City music scene with a contest win at the Village Gate.  She was a songwriter and lead singer for New York-based band D'Tripp for five years as they toured throughout the U.S. and headlined two European tours. Kismet and her band performed their original blend of alternative soul, funk and pop (a.k.a. "rhythm and groove") for several American and European TV shows, as well as opening for such artists as Ashford and Simpson and Tania Maria.  While working on her on music, Kismet has been singing with a host of fabulous New York artists, including Toshi Reagon, ToniAnn Semple and Morley Kamen. Kismet performed on the NBC television program The Today Show in 2005 with singer/songwriter Morley Kamen.  Kismet is honoured and excited to present "Given", a cd of her own music produced by Toshi Reagon.
